Mail Day – Henkei and Alternity
jetfire, October 3rd, 2009 I wasn’t a fan of the Henkei line when they first came out. To me they were just overpriced repaints of the Hasbro Classics line. Well, they still are… but now I’m willing to pay up for them. There is a certain exclusivity feel in owning a Henkei. Plus, with all the 3rd party accessories being developed by the likes of Fansproject, the appeal for them became greater. So after over a year and a half after release. I finally picked some up.
Here’s what came in last week, all nicely wrapped in bubble.
The boxes look much nicer taken out. They won’t be out for long though so they better enjoy this.
First up, Henkei C-05 Hot Rodimus (ヘンケイ トランスフォーマー C-05 ホットロディマス)
I believe the retail price was 2,100 Yen when it was first released in May 2008. I bought them for much more. They were a little expensive but that’s the price of being late to the Henkei party. I don’t think you will be able to find these at retail anymore due to the speculation of an upcoming Fansproject Protector kit (similar to the City Commander for Ultra Magnus).
Second up, Henkei C-01 Convoy / Optimus Prime (ヘンケイ トランスフォーマー C-01 コンボイ)
Retail was 3,150 Yen.
Lastly, Alternity Convoy A-01 (Vibrant Red)
トランスフォーマー オルタニティ A-01 NISSAN GTR/コンボイ バイブラントレッド
Retail on this guy was 4,725 Yen. I didn’t preorder this when all the US etailers had him for sale. They were all selling these for $49.99 USD. I had to pay preimum because the Red version is sold out, even in Japan. I’m sure Takara will produce more but who knows when and how much it will cost then.
I have the Silver and Black on the way…. I bought 2 of each. 1 to open, eventually. The other will be kept MISB, to sell or collect. I’m not sure yet. If anybody is interested, let me know. They can be for sale. Money is king.

Lucky you…
Takara sure knows how to make a good model. Personally, I prefer Takara-released TFs than Hasbro-released. Something bothers me when looking at the Hasbro versions of those…
All in all, you have a good collection there…
